Kinectrics Announces Construction of Lab in Gujarat, India

February 19, 2018

Kinectrics is pleased to announce the launch of construction of the world’s first dedicated laboratory built specifically for testing high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors, in Gujarat India. In partnership with Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU), local testing will support a cost-effective approval process for HTLS conductors to service the growing demand of electricity in India – assuring quality and reliability of power delivery to the public. Earlier today, to commemorate the start of construction, The Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, Canada took part in a stone-laying ceremony for the new laboratory in Gujarat, India.

This will be the first laboratory in the world built specifically for testing high capacity (or high-temperature low-sag) conductors. These types of conductors are widely used by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) and State Electricity Boards. This laboratory is also expected to grow the local economy by C$3.7M. The lab will benefit both India and Canada by establishing a conductor testing and R and D Centre of Excellence.  This lab will be accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and will be ISO9001 & 17025 certified.
