Kinectrics Leads Participation in COG Workshop

July 21, 2015

Sriram Suryanarayan M. Sc., Ph.D. and Gavin Pereira Ph.D. from the Kinectrics Analytical & Waste Services (AWS) group were key participants in the recent COG FRF Workshop held in Toronto.

Suryanarayan presented a 2-hour overview describing the extensive characterization and assessment work performed by Kinectrics for COG Research and Development. The Kinectrics project was designed to help improve performance of Electro Hydraulic Control (EHC) systems associated with steam turbines at CANDU stations.

Numerous project design and engineering recommendations produced by Kinectrics have already been accepted and proven successful, and will help Ontario's nuclear industry save millions of dollars over the course of CANDU nuclear station life.

The AWS group contribution was also recognized at the workshop with a special plaque presented to Suryanarayan by COG CM&C Technical Committee Chair Gabe Nicolaides and OPG technical expert Dr. George Staniewski.

The COG FRF Workshop was well attended by chemistry and engineering personnel from several utilities and suppliers, including world-renowned industry experts.

The CANDU Owners Group (COG) is an international association of nuclear power producers and suppliers.
