Kinectrics and Department of Atomic Energy - India Extend Key Agreement

September 12, 2016

A key agreement between Kinectrics and the Nuclear Fuel complex (NFC) along with the Department of Atomic Energy in India has been extended for another three years. Nuclear Fuel Complex, located in Hyderabad, India, manufactures all of the fuel and fuel channel components for the Indian PHWRs.
During a recent visit to Hyderabad to sign the agreement, Mr. David Harris, President and CEO of Kinectrics, met with the new Chief Executive of NFC, Mr. G. Kalyanakrishnan. Both chief executives agreed to work closely together, not only on an existing project for resistance-welded fuel appendages, but also on future fuel channel related projects.
The companies’ mutual 2016 accord supports an ongoing Kinectrics initiative in the international nuclear industry to bring the “Best of India to Canada and the Best of Canada to India”.
The Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC) was established in 1971 as a major industrial unit of India's Department of Atomic Energy for the supply of  nuclear fuel bundles and reactor core components. It is a unique facility where natural and enriched uranium fuel, zirconium alloy cladding and reactor core components are manufactured.
Formed in 1954, The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) under the direction of the department of the Prime Minister of India has headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The DAE is engaged in the development of nuclear power technology, as well as applications of radiation technologies in the fields of agriculture, medicine, industry and basic research. .
