NUPIC Audit Completed at Kinectrics

July 07, 2011

A rigorous on-site audit of the Kinectrics Quality Assurance program was recently completed by the Nuclear Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC).

The NUPIC audit team assigned to Kinectrics consisted of seven audit members and two technical specialists. Representatives from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Canadian Nuclear Regulatory Commission (CNSC) also participated in the week-long activities.

The purpose of the audit was to determine and verify the effective implementation of Kinectrics' Quality Assurance Program in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations  (10 CFR) Part 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1-2008, "Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications," and 10 CFR Part 21. Numerous technical and administrative areas within Kinectrics were examined in depth and assessed by the auditors from April 10-16, 2011.

Positive findings were presented to Kinectrics management and the Audit Finding Reports were officially closed by the NUPIC Team on July 7, 2011.

The NUPIC program evaluates suppliers furnishing safety-related components and services and commercial grade items to nuclear facilities.
