Business Manager - Training

Kinectrics has a successful training business focused on selling technical training to external customers and is looking for an experienced Business Manager to manage and expand this growing business.  The successful candidate must have the vision, drive and ability to take this business to a new level of growth and profitability.

General Accountabilities  

  • Grow and manage a profitable Training business for Kinectrics in accordance with the approved business strategy.

  • Lead, support  and co-ordinate activities of Kinectrics technical experts as they identify, design, develop,  deliver, market  and sell profitable technical training programs to external customers

  • Accountable for the overall profitability and success of the training business

  • Develop and maintain existing and new business relationships and opportunities both in Canada and the USA

  • Develop and establish traditional and computer based training strategies and programs that support customer business requirements and align with corporate business strategy 

  • Ensure the effective identification of customer training needs through market analysis, customer visits and competitive data gathering

  • Coach and support others in the delivery of effective, participant centered  training courses, seminars and web based applications

  • Design and develop training materials including trainer guides, participant materials and evaluation systems

  • Coordinate training budgets, schedules and programs company-wide

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Desired Skills and Experience

  •  5+ years’ experience working in a profit centered training business with experience in business development and P&L accountability
  • Formal training, or equivalent experience,  in the principles of adult learning  and program design focusing on technical audiences and concepts

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of a University Degree in Business or Education or Human Resources

  • Aptitude for technology

  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear and concise training

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Effective influencing skills – able to engage technical staff to support and deliver effective training initiatives

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach and mentor others

  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills

  • Strategic thinker

  • Demonstrated business development skills, project management skills and experience

  • 5+ years designing, writing and developing technical training material
