Purchase a wide range of products and services for a variety of clients.  Establish and maintain effective relationships with requisitioners and local, national and international vendor communities as appropriate to ensure effective procurement planning.  Process and administer contract conditions and complex evaluations, claims and adjustments.

This may include the following:

  • Creation, production and issuance of purchase orders
  • Creation, and issuance of Requests for Quotations
  • Expedite purchase orders where necessary
  • Closing of expired purchase orders
  • Generate monthly open order reports and issue to various departments
  • Assist with vendor resolutions
  • Execution of purchasing contracts and amendments
  • Negotiate cost reductions and efficiencies
  • Preparation and execution of Record of Export requirements and co-ordination of cross-border activities
  • Maintain data base on all Temporary Import Bonds (TIB) issued and timely cancellations
  • Provide staff with support to resolve tax, price or receipt issues
  • Administer inventory management system
  • Provide coverage for purchase order receipting as backup


  • Completion of Community College plus additional specialized courses in Purchasing or equivalent
  • Registered or certified in the Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation or equivalent
  • Intermediate user skills in Microsoft Office computer applications, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP in Purchasing, Inventory or Accounting modules is a MUST
  • experience in negotiating strategic purchasing contracts with terms favourable to the company requirements
  • Understanding of purchasing law
  • Understand principle transportation terms and conditions
  • Fluent in cross-border functionalities and processes for export and import
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management
  • Ability to work independently on a day to day basis
  • Proven high level of customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Operates with a high level of ethical values
  • 3 - 6 years previous experience is required in a multi-faceted purchasing and/or manufacturing environment

NOTE:  Lesser qualified candidates may be considered for a Junior Buyer position, however all candidates must demonstrate the required experience using SAP in a purchasing environment.
