General Overview 

As a technical specialist perform routine testing and inspection of transmission and distribution network grounding in accordance with established technical work instructions and industry consensus standards. Perform lab and field tests using predominantly standard techniques and processes.  Prepare progress reports and other standard reports such as routine test reports and equipment packing/shipping reports.  Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems generally of a routine nature.  The initial assignment is within the Electrical & Safety Testing Department.

General Duties

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine electrical tests, investigations and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines
  • Perform lab and field tests using predominantly standard techniques; provide support in laboratory or field environments by conducting experiments, conducting tests or servicing equipment; quality control.
  • Assist with field commissioning and acceptance testing of electrical power equipment.
  • Assist with and sometimes assemble and maintain  equipment, processes, systems and development of test methods
  • Participate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages
  • Write reports of a predominantly routine nature.
  • Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems.
  • The position requires considerable travel within Ontario with the possibility of Northeast USA.
  • Perform other duties as required.



  • Completion of High School plus additional specialized courses related to Electrical Technology at the community college level
  • 5 years related experience or equivalent advanced education in related areas such as electrical technology.
  • Requires knowledge of electrical theory and testing standards to understand the requirements for testing of grounding structures.
  • Requires experience with ground testing practices, procedures and safety standards.
  • Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
