 General Accountabilities

  • Contribute to technical evaluations and analyses with a primary focus in the areas of CANDU nuclear safety analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership to safety analysis projects and/or project team leadership supporting in areas of expertise.
  • Propose, pursue, execute and lead work acquired, in one or more designated specialties.
  • Plan, develop, write and present proposals.
  • Perform technical evaluations and analyses with a primary focus in the area of safety analysis, safety case development and technical integration capabilities.
  • Prepare technical reports suitable for submission to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and support the client in addressing questions from the CNSC or other regulatory bodies.
  • Actively market services to clients. Help identify likely opportunities to SLL or DM and initiate discussions as possible to further progress identified opportunities.

Selection Criteria

Essential Competencies:

  • Strong customer orientation and commitment to Kinectrics and Business Unit goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team situation and assist staff to develop their own level of expertise in this area.
  • Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Science with an emphasis on nuclear studies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in two or more of:
          Analysis software
          Developing scripts and running safety analysis codes
          Safety case development
          Technical integration capabilities
          Reactor physics
          Containment Analysis
          Fuel Analysis
  • Knowledge of CANDU technology.
  • Must be able to work in a project driven environment with the capability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and within project constraints (time, cost, quality).
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements.
  • Must be motivated by working with engineering professionals committed to producing timely and high quality technical work.
  • A period of 5 or more years is considered necessary to gain this experience
