This is an introductory overview of basic Ultrasonic Phased Array technology for Managers and Supervisors. Ultrasonic Phased Array is one of the emerging tools available that may improve the results of inspection tasks, and also help overcome problems encountered when testing complex parts, i.e. Materials or geometries. Non-destructive testing can be used to help prevent catastrophic equipment / plant failures. To be effective, these tests must be selected, applied, and interpreted with care, and be based on valid knowledge of failure mechanisms and their causes.
