Electrical & Mechanical Testing - CABLES

Cable Testing

Cables, High Voltage (HV)

  • Qualification tests for high voltage power cables with extruded insulation, impregnated-paper-insulated low and medium or high-pressure fluid-filled cables as well as cable system components.
  • Testing in accordance with AEIC, IEEE 48, IEEE 404, IEC 60840, IEC 620678, IEC 60141-1 and IEC 61442 standards.

Cables, Medium Voltage (MV)

  • Diagnostic tests
    • Hipot (voltage withstand)
      • gross defects
  • Partial Discharge (PD)
    • Deficiencies
      • water tree immediately before failure
  • Dissipation Factor (DF)
    • "water treeing"
    • 60 to 0.1 Hz
  • PD and DF
    • Several voltage levels (tip-up)

Cables, Low Voltage (LV)

  • Non-destructive identification of cable types in the field
  • Using micro samples of cables from the field, Kinectrics can:
    • Determine radiaition exposure level
    • Determine thermal exposure level
    • Predict remaining service life
