3-D Sample Analysis

Kinectrics Hot Lab offers expanded capabilities for sample analysis

A Hirox KH-3000 3-D Microscope is now available at Kinectrics to provide enhanced radioactive and non-active sample analysis for clients. The new equipment enables Kinectrics’ laboratory personnel to look at an expanded range of radioactive samples.

Clearly-focused images from contoured samples can be constructed, which was previously impossible when using traditional optical microscopy, and various image features can be measured. The samples can be viewed at an oblique angle (25°-55°), without changing the orientation of the equipment.

The new unit produces magnification up to 3500x without special processing or oil immersion, thereby preserving sample integrity. 3-D images can be constructed quickly, and allow much better representation of samples.

Handling and project set-ups are also less complex, offering clients faster project turnaround. Digital images can be provided directly to clients.

With the KH-3000, the potential for radiation exposure to personnel and possible damage to equipment is also significantly reduced. Multiple people can view a sample on an LCD screen from a safe distance, at the same time. The microscope lens is kept further away from the radioactive source minimizing the opportunity for damage.

A variety of precision accessories complements the new analytical capabilities now offered by the KH-3000 microscope.
