Building Effective Replacements for Obsolete Parts and Equipment

Obsolete parts and equipment are a growing problem for utilities and industry. Equipment or parts may be discontinued and / or design drawings may no longer be available. Kinectrics was commissioned to build a new unit to replace an OEM Overcurrent Relay. The original product had been discontinued for a number of years.   The client had instituted a repair program using inventory spares but was eventually unable to repair the existing units further. An exact replacement product could not be found.

Kinectrics solution

Kinectrics identified a commercial product having similar capabilities, augmented its performance by adding circuitry, and mounted the package in a case identical to the original.
