Kinectrics is looking for an experienced licensed professional electrical engineer to work with a team of professionals in projects related to transmission substations.
General Accountabilities
-
Act as a project leader / senior project manager for Kinectrics dealing with design, operation and maintenance of transmission substation facilities. Further, developing strategies supporting improved design, construction and maintenance practices, developing techniques for measurement of health and condition of substation equipment.

As technical advisor to the Department Manager, identify areas of opportunity to increase revenue and profit in the area of transmission and distribution asset management.

Plan and develop major business proposals for work in the area of transmission asset condition and maintenance management, including negotiation and administration of contracts, estimates of costs, scheduling, and resource management.

Execution of work assignments including development of qualification specification and plan, test implementation, test and qualification reports.

Keep informed on the latest issues in the area of transmission and distribution asset management. Keep abreast of all Canadian and US "Design & Operating Experience".
Essential Competencies

Previous experience in implementing new business ideas in the area of transmission asset condition and maintenance management

Ability to work in a team situation and mentor staff to develop their own level of expertise in this area.

Considerable knowledge and experience in project management in order to integrate large multidisciplinary high profile/key projects/activities at customer sites.

Strong oral and written communication skills as well as proven computer skills in Microsoft software.
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

A four-year university education in electrical engineering. Preference will be given to post-graduate qualification as well as demonstrated leadership in substation technologies.

Extensive knowledge in all aspects of transmission substation design, operation and life extension.

Practical knowledge/experience in power industry design and construction standards and maintenance practices.

Demonstrated qualification experience in the areas of, but not limited to, transformers, tap-changers, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, gas-insulated equipment, substation grounding and substation control house technologies.

Demonstrated ability to operate in the role of "consultant engineer" with a demonstrated ability to secure work.

A period of up to 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

Must be a licensed professional engineer.
