TORONTO, Ontario, Canada, October 16, 2007. - Barry Ward, P.E. has been named an Associate with Kinectrics’ Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Technologies Group.
Ward’s responsibilities will include support in transmission substation asset condition assessments and asset management with particular emphasis on power transformers and other oil-filled equipment.
Ward has nearly 40 years experience in the electric power industry, with specialized skills in utility operation and maintenance, power transformer design and manufacture, electrical test equipment design and manufacture, underground cable testing, and electric power research management.
Most recently he has been a Senior Principal Consultant at KEMA, Inc. in the areas of failure analysis, condition assessments, maintenance management, and asset management support, with specialty knowledge in power transformers and cables.
Prior to that, for nine years Ward served as Project Manager with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), where he managed R&D projects related to substation equipment on-line monitoring and diagnostics. Projects focused on diagnostics of power transformers, load tap changers, and high-voltage current transformers, condition assessment techniques, remaining life criteria, and expert system software.
