TORONTO, Ontario, January 9, 2009 - Kinectrics is pleased to announce that William A. Chisholm, P. Eng. has been promoted to the position of Secretary to the Transmission and Distribution Committee of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) during a recent executive rotation within that organization.

Dr. Chisholm is a current Associate at Kinectrics, and internationally-acknowledged expert in lightning protection for power systems.

Dr. Chisholm’s tenure as PES Secretary will cover a two-year period commencing immediately and include the performance of duties as Committee Paper Coordinator at the IEEE 2009 Calgary meeting.

The scope of the PES Transmission and Distribution Committee’s work involves matters related to the design, theoretical and experimental performance, installation, and service operation of parts of electric power systems that serve to transmit electric energy between the generating sources and substations, or customer points of common coupling through AC or DC lines.

Dr. Chisholm achieved the ranking of IEEE Fellow in February 2007. He is a former Chairperson of the IEEE Lightning and Insulator Subcommittee and has been an active participant in many other IEEE working groups, events and panels. Dr. Chisholm has also developed, and participated in, the development of a number of IEEE, Canadian Federal, and CSA standards.

This appointment further confirms Kinectrics’ ongoing involvement and proactive support of the IEEE through financial sponsorship of professional events and personnel leadership roles in several technical committees.
