Advanced technology
Kinectrics has designed many new and effective technologies to resolve complex problems and enhance the operations and management of power generation facilities. Utilities and industries worldwide have adopted products, methodologies and standards developed by Kinectrics.
Our most recent initiative in this area presents Kinectrics Genuine Partsto provide advanced products directly to clients in the power generation industry. Kinectrics Genuine Parts solutions are founded on decades of experience by our scientists, engineers and technical professionals in generation plant, transmission and distribution, distributed generation and environmental technologies.
Relays - Component Analysis, Type Testing and Closed-loop Testing
Kinectrics can provide parts with identical form fit and function to original relay components. Relay or control equipment can be tested and analyzed in closed-loop mode using RTDS to define components to precisely match your equipment characteristics. We can design and manufacture specialized relay equipment such as 100% stator ground relays, distance relays, programmable logic controllers and battery ground detectors.
Battery Ground Fault Detector
Kinectrics has developed a microprocessor-based LCD readout ground detector capable of detecting balanced and unbalanced faults. The MK IV Ground Detector is suitable for use in the electric utility and other industries using similar battery systems.
TRUSTIE (Tiny Rotating Ultrasonic Tube Inspection Equipment)
Kinectrics develops and manufactures innovative technologies such as TRUSTIE, a unique tubing and piping inspection system designed for ultrasonic inspection of thin-walled, small diameter tubing. The TRUSTIE system and its related components are typical of the advanced engineering capabilities and dedicated parts design developed by Kinectrics to support optimal asset management of high value components and equipment in nuclear facilities.
Tyco Actuator
Kinectrics has supplied replacement containment isolation actuator systems for large nuclear facilities in Canada. The process involved sourcing components, dedication of numerous sub-assemblies, including regulators, relief valves, quick exhaust valves and actuators, in addition to piping, fittings and fasteners followed by building and testing the actuator systems prior to shipment.
DTO Scrubber System
The DTO Scrubber System is a helium vent gas scrubber used to strip out Carbon-14 as carbon dioxide and tritium as DTO/HTO as the helium is vented directly to atmosphere via contaminated exhaust stacks. The unit is used during outages to minimize radioactive species release.
The DTO Scrubber System is designed for continuous use, up to 30 days, at a nominal helium gas flow of 250 Liters/min through the scrubber. Similar scrubbers have been designed by Kinectrics for just tritium or just C-14 as CO2 for resin transfer operations at nuclear stations.
Hydrogen Technologies
Kinectrics is a long-time provider of advanced technical expertise to the international tritium community. Specialized equipment developed by Kinectrics for this industry includes Process Tritium Sensor, Surface Tritium Sensor and Tritium Hydride Beds.
Established expertise
Kinectrics has established a reputation over several decades for technical excellence and success in the energy sector. As the former research division of a major North American utility with numerous nuclear and power generation facilities, we can provide clients with the advantage of unrivalled practical experience in innovative design and engineering.
