Efficient Cost-Effective Power Generation using Small Hydro, Wind Technology and Energy from Waste

Practical alternatives

To answer a growing need for new energy resources, energy users are looking to advanced technologies in their search for options in power generation. Renewable energy technologies developed and managed by Kinectrics provide a multitude of practical, environmentally-friendly solutions.

Small Hydro Generation

  • Utilizes the advantage of Kinectrics’ established, broad-based hydroelectric experience and expertise
  • Provides clients with "one stop" solutions – Kinectrics offers complete mechanical, electrical and civil engineering services
  • Matches installations to client site requirements
  • Offers a wide range of customer-driven options including turnkey projects

Small hydro generation is an environmentally attractive energy supply alternative for new developments in isolated areas and retrofit installations at water control facilities. Utilities that serve customers distant from a central power grid are examining new options to turn running rivers into reliable sources of electricity.

Kinectrics offers extensive experience in providing superior project design and management for small hydro projects from the concept phase to commissioning and in-service support. A variety of available equipment ensures each small hydro installation is matched to the customer’s needs.

Distributed Generation

  • Independent generation source
  • Provides secure, reliable energy supply
  • Facilitates electricity availability for peak shaving, provision of standby power, and delivers added value through the sale of excess power
  • Provides potential for combined heat and power
  • Better utilization of resources
  • Offers potential for stand-alone configurations

Distributed Generation (DG) uses small-scale power generation technologies to generate electricity in close proximity to its utilization point. DG technology portfolios typically include one or more components, such as small hydro plants, wind turbines, photovoltaics, fuel cells, reciprocating engines, combustion gas turbinesand micro turbines. Plant capacities range in size from a few kW to as high as 20 MW.

Deregulation, improved reliability and expansion of energy options remain common motivating factors driving the growing popularity of DG technologies.

Biomass Energy

  • Utilizes waste materials
  • Provides new energy resources
  • Reduces the need for costly landfill sites

Developed and managed efficiently, biomass energy programs can provide governments and communities with significant economic returns. In most cases biomass energy projects can also have a positive impact on the environment for an associated region or community, by reducing the need for landfill sites.

Wind Energy Technology

  • Delivers renewable, safe, clean and environmentally-friendly power
  • Remains unaffected by fluctuating fuel costs
  • Complements other sources of power generation

Wind energy has come of age. With the availability of efficient wind turbine generators, electric power can be produced from this natural renewable energy source. Kinectrics can guide you every step of the way from site selection and economic evaluation to grid connection and operator training.

Kinectrics will work with your utility or organization to manage your wind energy production, from economic evaluation to the design, installation, connection and final testing and monitoring of performance. We can assist in measuring wind resources at your site and selecting the most appropriate hardware for your system.

Kinectrics services cover all aspects of wind energy technology, from the power quality of your utility connection and the performance and reliability of your system, to complete training for your operations staff.
