The challenge

Many communities, especially remote ones, have insufficient power to meet their growing energy needs and are looking to advanced technologies in their search for new cost-effective generating options. Increased concern for the environment is also leading energy users, with their own steams or existing flood control dams, to consider alternative sources of generation. Utilities that serve customers distant from a central power grid are examining new options to turn running rivers into economical sources of electricity.

Innovative solutions

Small hydro electricity generating systems are today’s answer to increased energy availability and more efficient, environmentally friendly generation. Small hydro is an attractive energy supply alternative for new developments in isolated areas, and retrofit installations at water control facilities. Kinectrics uses a variety of advanced technologies and equipment to ensure an installation meets a customer’s needs. Using "run-of-river" configurations, these innovative systems often require no dams or in-water construction, thus minimizing the impact on the aquatic environment of the small hydro facility.

Unrivalled industry expertise

Kinectrics offers unrivalled expertise in providing superior project design and management for small hydro projects, ranging from feasibility studies to equipment installation, operation, training and support.
