Proven experience with major systems

Kinectrics Inc. has been central to ensuring performance excellence for Ontario Power Generation (OPG), formerly Ontario Hydro, one of North America's largest transmission systems. For the Utility's installed capacity of over 30,000 MW, Kinectrics utilized static excitation systems on a large number of generators, ranging in size from 3 MVA to 1100 MVA. Our work included commissioning, testing and evaluating generator governors, stabilizers and excitation systems. Kinectrics' staff and associates have amassed unrivalled direct experience in all aspects of generator controls and system studies.

Kinectrics has also conducted definitive studies internationally to assess the impact of interconnecting distributed generation in utility systems and to identify factors affecting penetration limits on particular feeders. We have performed numerous studies for loss reduction, which often resulted in substantial savings with little or no capital investment by the client utility. We are experts in rating computations and have installed several real-time rating systems on underground cables and overhead lines.
