Kinectrics to Present New Technologies at EDIST 2015

January 08, 2015

Staff members from  Kinectrics' Transmission & Distribution business will participate in the upcoming EDIST show, which will takes place in Toronto from January 14-16, 2015. The new LineVue inspection tool for Distribution, which was recently successfully tested in the U.S., will be shown at the Kinectrics EDIST booth.

Stephen Cress, P. Eng., Department Manager, and Kenneth Cheng, P. Eng., Project Manager, both from the Kinectrics Distribution Asset Managment group, are also scheduled to make a presentation entitled, "DC Arc Hazard Analysis" during EDIST.

Industry safety standards to prevent personnel injuries due to accidental arcing events are established and as a result, AC arc hazard assessment has become relatively well understood. Several mathematical models are currently available to assist users in predicting radiated energy levels released by AC arcs.

The Stephen Cress / Kenneth Cheng presentation will discuss existing computation methods for DC arcs, the pros and cons of each method, and other key aspects of this important topic.

Transmission and Distribution experts from Kinectrics will be available during the EDIST event to discuss other advancements, services, and products for the electricity industry.
