CANDU-6 Services
CANDU-6 is a Canadian-designed nuclear reactor known for its efficiency in generating electricity using natural uranium as fuel, and heavy water as both a coolant and a moderator. CANDU-6 stands for Canadian Deuterium Uranium-6, a specific model within the CANDU series of nuclear reactors. Currently,
there are 11 operational CANDU-6 reactors spanning across five countries: Argentina, Canada,
China, Romania, and South Korea. CANDU-6 offers unique features such as online refueling, load following, and a robust safety design, making it a reliable choice for clean energy generation.
Over the past 20+ years, Kinectrics has become a global leader in providing CANDU-6 services, proudly supporting Canada's Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (NGS), South Korea's Wolsong NGS, and Romania's Cernavodă NGS. The similarities between CANDU and CANDU-6 technology have enabled Kinectrics to leverage our long history of providing CANDU nuclear solutions to proactively support the CANDU-6 fleet.
Kinectrics’ offers one of the largest pools of knowledgeable staff that have decades of experience supporting the nuclear lifecycle, from initial design right through to decommissioning. Our diverse team of nuclear experts, specialized facilities, and global offices enable us to deliver integrated solutions that support all stages of the CANDU-6 lifecycle.
