Abstract

Low voltage cables are mostly 600V cable designs supporting power, instrument, and control functions. Assessing the condition of these low voltage (LV) cables has its own challenges compared to medium and high voltage applications. The main factors responsible for aging of LV cables are thermal conditions, chemical/wet environments, and, in limited applications, radiation/UV exposure. Among these factors, thermal aging is typically the primary concern.
