Toronto, Canada - Kinectrics, a global provider of nuclear lifecycle services, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP), the operator of the South Korean nuclear fleet and a nuclear power technology supplier, continue to build on their existing cooperation experience by jointly developing capabilities in preparation for the decommissioning of Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWR) in Korea, Canada and globally.

Under this agreement, Kinectrics will leverage its unique expertise to provide KHNP with decommissioning related training and technical services. KHNP personnel will also work alongside Kinectrics’ subject matter experts for approximately 9 months at Kinectrics headquarters in Toronto to execute various decommissioning projects. Working together will enable both parties to combine their world class expertise in the field of PHWR decommissioning, while upholding the highest standard of quality assurance and safety.

Kinectrics’ extensive experience combined with our licensed radioactive and waste management facilities will provide dedicated and reliable support to KHNP and the CANDU industry at large. Collaboration is critical to building expertise that ensures the safe decommissioning of heavy water nuclear plants and will play an important role in helping to sustainably manage this crucial stage of the electricity lifecycle.
