Waterloo, ON – September 1, 2023 - Kinectrics, a global provider of nuclear lifecycle services, and the University of Waterloo, a leading Canadian academic institution, are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This marks the 5th MoU signed by Kinectrics with Canadian universities since the beginning of August and formalizes a plan to strengthen these relationships through innovative research, developing talent and promoting the growth of the nuclear industry as we strive to achieve clean and sustainable energy.

Fostering pre-existing partnerships between Kinectrics and Waterloo, this agreement outlines mutual research areas targeting innovative technologies in the nuclear industry. Key areas include novel inspection technologies, additive manufacturing and advanced materials, infrastructure assessment, artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotics and autonomous vehicles, as well as waste management and decommissioning strategies. These identified focus areas will provide a foundation for achieving mutual strategic goals and objectives.

Building upon opportunities for innovative research and collaboration, Kinectrics and Waterloo pledge to foster the next generation of talent in the nuclear industry. The MoU outlines goals for developing highly qualified personnel and promoting various streams for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students to pursue their interests in the nuclear and energy industry. Kinectrics and Waterloo strive to strengthen the engagement of student talent to support a bright future in nuclear.
